autumnbooksHappy Autumn!  We have two exciting events at 65 James Street that we want to spotlight this week.

On Pointe Book Salon

Starting today, September 30th, ABSW begins hosting the On Pointe Book Salon, a new monthly club for book lovers of all kinds to meet up and talk about what they’re reading.

What makes On Pointe Book Salon different from other book clubs?

  • OPBS is open to all people of all genders.
  • Members of OPBS can read and discuss any book they like any month; there’s no “assigned reading.”
  • All books and book fans are welcome: non-fiction, literature, science fiction, fantasy, romance, historical, horror, suspense, and more.

Sound like the kind of regular book event you’d be interested in? Come in for 7 PM tonight and check us out! Can’t make it tonight? Contact Sean for more information at Keep an eye on our website events page, blog, and Facebook for more information!

Glitter, Mayhem, Browncoats, and Time Lords!

On Friday, October 4th, from 7-9PM, ABSW is hosting a Glitter, Mayhem, Browncoats, and Time Lords party!

Guests include K. Tempest Bradford, Julia Rios, Jennifer Pelland, Susan Jane Bigelow, Lynne M. Thomas, and Michael Damian Thomas – winners and nominees of Hugos, Nebulas, and more.  Also, cool kids to party with.

The books are Glitter & Mayhem, an anthology of short fiction that spans dance clubs and roller derbies leaving people covered in blood and sparkles; Whedonistas, a collection of women’s essays looking at pop culture mastermind Joss Whedon; Chicks Dig Time Lords, Chicks Unravel Time, and Queers Dig Time Lords, three anthologies that look at women’s and queer perspectives of the longest-running science fiction serial of all time, Doctor Who.
