Annie's Book Stop of Worcester

The little bookstore that's bigger on the inside

book-heartWe had a wonderful event this past Sunday with Mr. Albert B. Southwick signing his latest books. The store was packed with visitors, and we were very honored and happy to have him at 65 James Street.  If you missed the signing, ABSW still has copies of all three volumes of WWII Correspondence between Albert B. Southwick and Maple Hill Farm, Down on the Farm Volume I (1956-1958), and Albert B. Southwick: Selected Writings: Volume 1 from his history column in the Telegram & Gazette.

Coming up for February, we have some lovely specials and surprises!

For events, we’ve got the Science-Fiction Triple Header of three Tor authors visiting us on Friday, February 7, from 7-9PM. Authors James L. Cambias, Brian Stavely, and Ramona Wheeler will be at the store for a reading, Q & A, and signing.

We’ve also got the Worcester Storytellers event on Friday, February 28, from 7-8:30PM. They’ll host their usual Open Mic ending with featured reader David Lucht.

Of course, as it is February, ABSW is also sharing a little extra love with its patrons with two Valentine’s specials!

For the whole month of February, try having a Blind Date With A Book! For $5 get a wrapped selection of four books and a few kisses (the chocolate kind). And then, starting the Friday before Valentine’s Day through the Friday of Valentine’s Day, take an EXTRA 10% off all used romance, historical romance, and romantic suspense titles!

Last, but not least, the 2014 ALA Awards have been announced, and ABSW has all the winners and nominees in stock already or on order!

The Newbery Winner is Flora & Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo.

The Newbery Honors are Doll Bones by Holly Black, One Came Home by Amy Timberlake, Paperboy by Vince Vawter, and Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes.
