Annie's Book Stop of Worcester

The little bookstore that's bigger on the inside

07232014 - spy_tanksIt’s almost August! Summer’s almost over!

Fear not if you still need to get your summer reading books. We’ve got ‘em here at 65 James Street or we can order ‘em for you. Just stop in or give us a call!

But we are drawing near to that Back to School time…

…And we’ve got a special just for the educators in our community! We are making August our EDUCATORS’ MONTH!

All month long we’ll be offering special discounts to all educators, from preschool through college.  Special perks include:
* We’ve received a large selection of teaching modules, handbooks, workbooks, and skillbuilder titles from Scholastic, Teacher Created Materials, Frank Schaffer and more.  These titles, originally priced between $5.99 up to $39.99, are now just $1.00 per copy!
* We’ll be offering an additional 10% discount to classroom teachers who present their MTA card or paystub, college educators who present their paystub, and homeschoolers who present proof of approval of home education from their school district.  This means that new books will be sold at a 40% discount from the retail price, rather than the year-round educators discount of 30%, and used books will be sold at a 70% discount from the retail price, rather than the year-round discount of 60%.  The Educators Month discount does not apply to sale cart/final sale merchandise, or to non-book items such as gift certicates, toys, magazines, and kitchen items.  Discounts for special orders will be reviewed on a case-to-case basis and applied when possible.  Store credit may be applied to used books AFTER disounts have been taken at the register.  We will continue to accept Groupon for these sales, but other coupons may not be used in combination with this sale.

Also, as we squeed about last blog, August 23 brings us the NEW DOCTOR WHO WITH PETER CAPALDI!!

We’re looking for our fellow fans to send us their reviews of the new season and the new Doctor, and we’ll post a selection of them on our blog!

But even before that, on Friday, August 8 from 7-9PM, ABSW is getting a visit from Tom Lukas’s traveling Spycar! Special Operations is Lukas’s first novel, and SEETHROUGH, the spy program he created in the novel, inspired him to create and design his own Spycar, which he drives throughout the U.S. to publicize his work.

And don’t forget, Spinning Yarns continues every Wednesday, starting at 7:00 PM. Bring your favorite craft and listen to an audio book or audio drama while you create! We’ll be scheduling more specific books and dramas soon, so also feel free to send us your requests of what you want to hear at this event!

So, come on into the bookstore that’s “bigger on the inside” at 65 James Street, and enjoy these last few weeks of summer with us!

May your world be filled with wonderful words!
