Thank you to everyone who came out to C.S.E. Cooney’s reading and the Rainbow Readers of Massachusetts! We had a wonderful time at both events on Saturday.
As we’re now halfway through November, there are a lot of events and things to do at the store and for the holidays!
Start sending us your special orders now, for example, so you can ensure you have the gifts you need in time for whatever holiday or party you’re celebrating. Delivery and post always get tight and crazy around the holidays, so plan ahead and save yourself some stress.
Also for your holiday needs, ABSW is taking part in Small Business Saturday on November 28! Joining forces with Broad Universe, we’ll have a number of women authors and artists at the store from 12:00 – 5:00 PM sharing their work. Check the details below.
On top of all that, we also have a coupon in The Yankee Xpress for an additional 10% off—so if you were looking for another reason to shop at 65 James Street for your holiday purchases, save even more money on our already discounted prices.
We’ve also joined forces with the Dr. Who Club of Western, MA for upcoming events and other nifty things happening in the future (or maybe past and present, too—time travel, you know). You can find out more about these adventures at www.drwhoclub.com.
THIS WEEK specifically, we’ve got more great events coming up: Two for our beloved Doctor Who!
For all you writers and participants of NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month, this is the last week to join us for Come Write In! on Thursday, November 19, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Stop into the store, and do what you do best—write! We have coffee, outlets, and WiFi, so come in and write your great novel amidst our shelves of beautiful literature.
Also on Thursday, November 19th, from 7:00 – 8:00, Patty is giving her monthly Doctor Who Talk. This month’s topic is Other Time Lords. The Doctor has met quite a few of them through the series. Who are they? And have they been friends or foes? Do remember, these talks are a spoiler-safe zone for the current season!
And then on Saturday, November 21, all day, we are having our annual Doctor Who Day! It’s the “birthday” of television’s longest-running science fiction serial, and the favorite of ASBW. Take advantage of one-day-only in-store special sales including 10% off on Doctor Who audio dramas, 20% off on all magazines, and 70% off on selected Blake’s 7 audio titles from B7 Media.
ABSW will be running two trivia contests. The first will start at 3:00 PM and will concentrate on “New Who” television episodes broadcast between 1996 and the present. The second will start at 6:00 PM and will be more challenging, focusing on “Classic Who” episodes which aired between 1963 and 1989.
There will also be a costume contest at 5:00 PM. Costumes are encouraged throughout the day.
Sign up for these contests may be done in person at this store or by e-mail at anniesbookstopworcester@gmail.com and is subject to space availability.
Prizes for the contests and awarded throughout the day will total a combined suggested retail value well in excess of $1000.00. Our judgement is final. Persons attending are eligible for only one contest prize in the calendar year. No substitution of prizes permitted.
