There are some wonderful changes happening in and around the store to share with you. We’re rearranging our sections to better serve our customers, so we’ve recently created an Urban Fantasy section that you can browse through. And, some especially cool news, we’ve just acquired a special collection from the 1880s! Come in and ask Patty or one of our staff about it.

And then, THIS COMING Saturday, February 20, from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sharon Yang presents Bait and Switch. Worcester State University professor Sharon Healy-Yang will have a reading and signing from her debut novel, a noir mystery based on her love for movies and literature from the 1940s. She’ll be reading, talking about her work, and signing.
War-time blackouts and U-boats skulking along the Atlantic sea board brood over New York City late on August evening in 1943. Actress Jessica Minton dashes away from the added misery of play rehearsals gone sour into a familiar drug store, thinking the dinner counter her last refuge. It turns out to be anything but. An attractive stranger, with whom she has a brief and mischievous exchange, abruptly takes off, leaving her with a package. In trying to return the package, Jessica is caught in a whirl of intrigue, murder, treachery, and treason. With the support of her tart-tongued sister, her wise-aleck cat, and her own wit and humor, Jessica tries to stay on top of a slippery espionage gambit that risks not only her life, but the Allied cause.
Sharon Healy-Yang is passionate about mysteries from the golden age, whether in a book or on screen. Her fascination with mysteries and the 1940s drives her pleasure in crafting novels that recapture the wit, adenture, and suspense of the era. Known on the campus where she teaches as the lady with the 1940s hats, she has the great fortune to combine her love of literature and film in courses aimed to enkindle that same excitement in her students. Healy-Yang lives in Massachusetts with her husband two cats and an enormous collection of vintage films.

Kelly Davidson has waited what seems like forever to graduate high school and get out of his small-minded, small town. But when he arrives at Hope University, he quickly realizes finding his Prince Charming isn’t so easy. Everyone here is already out. In fact, Kelly could be the only virgin on campus.
Worst of all, he’s landed the charming, handsome, gay campus Casanova as a roommate, whose bed might as well be equipped with a revolving door.
Walter Lucas doesn’t believe in storybook love. Everyone is better off having as much fun as possible with as many people as possible…except his shy, sad little sack of a roommate is seriously screwing up his world view.
As Walter sets out to lure Kelly out of his shell, staying just friends is harder than he anticipated. He discovers love is a crash course in determination. To make the grade, he’ll have to finally show up for class…and overcome his own private fear that love was never meant to last.

Doctor Who Talks, the third Thursday of every month from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Join us for a discussion of our favorite science fiction serial. Every month will have a different topic! Next meeting on February 18.
The Rainbow Readers of Massachusetts is an LGBTQA Book club that will meet once a month on Saturdays from 6:00-8:00 PM. The book will be Love Lessons by Heidi Cullinan. Next meeting on February 20.
