The little bookstore that's bigger on the inside

The end of April is in sight and we’ll be moving to May with this weekend!

Before we mention anything else, let’s talk a little about this weekend—It’s a special one!

THIS WEEKEND, April 30-May 1, we have our Weekend Long Independent Bookstore / Vintage Book Event!

ABSW has a great collection of vintage and antique books that we normally only sell online, but to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day, we are opening our collection to the public to browse our 65 James Street shelves!

Recently, owner Patty Cryan (who was just featured on our spotlight interview) came into a vintage collection she was particularly excited about.  Bookstore staff, clad in archival gloves to protect the books, have been researching and listing all the books in our inventory. From rare translations, to special illustrated editions, to first editions, the selection is wide and eclectic.

Adding to the festivities, at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Patty will give a set of collected readings on “Books about Books,” and on Sunday at 1:00 PM, she will talk about her adventures in bookselling. Throughout both days, we’ll have other surprises for everyone.

During this special weekend, we’re also still supporting the Worcester – The City That Reads book drive. Donate your new or gently used books appropriate for students from kindergarten to eighth grade. If you buy a book just for donation, we will take an additional 10% off.

And the drawing for the two Sisters diner gift certificates also happens this weekend! Anyone who buys $5 or more from our store can be entered to win one of two $10 gift certificates! (If your purchase is just under, consider buying a children’s book for Worcester – The City That Reads book drive!)  The drawing will be held on May 1, at the end of during our weekend-long celebration of Independent Bookstore Day – Vintage Book Event.  Winners do not have to be present to claim their prizes.
