Our little bookstore that is bigger on the inside has always been a place where speculative fiction has its well-earned niche.
- We’ve just gotten in this month’s DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE, issue 540, featuring a Third Doctor cover; Jon Pertwee’s 100th birthday was July 7th. Perfect timing for this weekend’s Doctor Who Meetup on Sunday, July 28th at 2pm.
- The British Fantasy Awards shortlist of nominees has been announced, and we are proud to carry the selected titles. Check out our shelves to find BINTI: THE NIGHT MASQUERADE by Nnedi Okorafor, THE CABIN AT THE END OF THE WORLD by Paul Tremblay, HOW LONG ‘TIL BLACK FUTURE MONTH by N.K. Jemisin, THE BITTER TWINS by Jen Williams, and PRIEST OF BONES by Peter McLean, to name a few.
- Speculative fiction creator birthdays this week include Virgil Finlay, Cyril M. Kornbluth, John D. MacDonald, Kendall Foster Crossen, and Mur Lafferty.
As stated in yesterday’s blog, we brought back many, many books from the past weekend’s writers conference, including a great selection of vintage pulp science fiction titles. We’ll be processing those in the next few days and reloading our shelves.
