Annie's Book Stop of Worcester

The little bookstore that's bigger on the inside

Every holiday season here at our little bookstore that’s bigger on the inside, we get asked for books about the world outside. Field guides are a perennial favorite for gift giving, and we’re pleased to share our picks for nature lovers.

Just in time for the Worcester Mineral Club’s presentation on this year’s Small Business Saturday on November 27th, we’ve gotten in some great handbooks of rocks and gems. Falcon Guides publishes the ultimate regional rockhounding book for the New England area; in addition, we’ve got Peterson’s first guide for young scientists and hobbyists.

If you’ve got a birdwatcher on your shopping list, we have New England birding maps as well as both Sibley’s and Peterson’s guides to birds in the Northeast.

Some folks might prefer flora to fauna, and we’ve got you covered, from foraging for edible plants, to identifying trees, to researching medicinal herbs and fungi.

We’ve got books that will have you exploring the vastness of the night sky as well as exploring the tiny universe of the wetlands in your own backyard.

Check out our field guides and get back to nature!
