steampumpkinIt’s October—one of our favorite months here at ABSW! Not only is October the anniversary month for moving to 65 James Street, but it’s owner Patty Cryan’s birthday month! And Halloween!

Just in time for Patty’s birthday and Halloween, we have got lots of events scheduled around the last week in October!

Thursday, October 24, 12noon-3PM

We’ll have staff present at a table event at Tatnuck Park Assisted Living Center.   The bookstore itself will be open during regular business hours.

Friday, October 25, 7-8:30 PM

Worcester Storytellers returns with their Open Mic and featured reader Lea C. Deschenes.

Saturday, October 26, 11 AM-9 PM

Spoooooky Storytime features ABSW staff, friends, and local actors and authors reading classic Halloween stories for the very young and very old alike. Stop in for a good story—and to wish Patty a happy birthday!

Sunday, October 27, 2-4 PM

An Afternoon of Poetry brings Irma Frey Stevens, with special guest, Rev. Catherine H. Read, to the store to read inspirational and spiritual poetry.

Monday, October 28, 7 PM

Our newest book club, the On Pointe Book Salon, returns. All persons and all books are welcome to this evening of discussion. Want even more info? Contact Sean at Or join us…it’s informal, and we don’t bite.

Of course, don’t forget Spinning Yarns event every Wednesday night at 7PM. Work on your favorite craft – be it knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, writing, or whatever – while listening to the Sarah Jane Smith audio drama mystery series this month. Join us for a relaxing evening listening to good literature!
