Annie's Book Stop of Worcester

The little bookstore that's bigger on the inside

Welcome to September! We’re having a lovely beginning of fall already.

Just this past weekend, we had a great Saturday at Pride on Worcester Common, where we sold books from our growing LGBTQIA, as well the titles as for our Rainbow Readers and Rainbow Readers Youth book club discussions. We also had a chance to meet and chat with other great clubs and organizations throughout Worcester County.

And then on Sunday, we had a wonderful time at the Pet Rock Festival at Becker College in Leicester with authors Hazel Mitchell and Janet Lawler. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table! If you didn’t get a chance to, we still have some signed books in the store.

For those of you back in school, or with kids back in school, if you’re still finding out about books you’ll need to read for this semester or this year – literature, classics, and more – check in at our 65 James Street location. We might be able to help you out!  If it’s not on our shelves, we can order books for you.

This week

We’ve got quite a bit happening this week!

Starting THIS THURSDAY, we are having our Doctor Who Discussion night. ABSW has a sizable representation of Doctor Who merchandise, and owner Patty Cryan is a long-time fan of the series—the world’s longest running science fiction serial! This month’s topic is “Everybody Loves a Villain.”

And then, THIS FRIDAY, we have our Rainbow Readers Youth group meeting from 6:00 – 8:00 PM discussing The Abyss Surrounds Us by Emily Skrutskie. The books are available at the store, but you can still come and enjoy the discussion and meet people even if you haven’t read the book.

THIS SATURDAY, we have TWO great events.

From 2:00 – 4:00 PM on SATURDAY, we will be welcoming voice actor Greg Tremblay. Join us for a talk on the world of voice acting and audiobook narration. Tremblay has a passion for character intensive SciFi/Fantasy, Mystery, and Romance with a particular affection for bringing LGBTQ characters voice to life. Greg’s voice covers a broad range of characters and stories – from the voices of Cole and Jae in Rhys Fords, Cole McGinnis Mysteries series to the crew of the ISS Constitution of Nick Webb’s Scifi epic Legacy Fleet.

Also on SATURDAY, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Rainbow Readers of Massachusetts will be discussing The Bone Doll’s Twin by Lynn Flewelling. The books are available at the store, but you can still come and enjoy the discussion and meet people even if you haven’t read the book.
