Annie's Book Stop of Worcester

The little bookstore that's bigger on the inside

We are almost halfway through June and Pride Month, but we still have a lot of specials and events for our friends who come out to shop or attend our events!

Thank you to everyone who came out to see Leah DeCesare debut her novel Forks, Knives, and Spoons on Saturday, as well as those who came out on Sunday for Michael Takeda and Dante Saunders for their anthology, Brave Boy World.

We also still have our sidewalk sale carts out and our LGBTQIA display up. We add new items regularly to the carts and our display. And with our literature cart sale selection, you could get some really sweet deals on summer reading or next year’s literature requirements for school!

Speaking of summer reading, we’ve also created a display of summer reading books based on the lists we’ve received from schools and prior years’ picks. It’s a mix of new and used books so we can cover as many titles as possible, but if you don’t find what you need there, don’t worry—we can order titles for you too or add them to our “want list” and see if we can find them used.

And if you’re looking for some fun things to do this weekend—we’ve got even more events at our 65 James Street location!

THIS THURSDAY, June 15, from 7:00 – 8:00 PM, join us for Doctor Who Discussion Night. We’ll be talking about the Doctor Who books and novels! ABSW has a big selection of those to choose from. How do they fit with the television series? What different types of adventures and stories can the books offer compared to the television episodes?

THIS FRIDAY, June 16, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, ABSW hosts Love is Love Part 1, LGBTQIA Romance Authors share their stories. Authors Samantha Wayland and Karen Stivali will be discussing writing queer romance and signing their books.

THIS SATURDAY, June 17, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, the Rainbow Reader’s Book Club discusses Chameleon Moon by RoAnna Sylver.

The city of Parole is burning. Like Venice slips into the sea, Parole crumbles into fire.

The entire population inside has been quarantined, cut off from the rest of the world, and left to die – directly over the open flame. Eye in the Sky, a deadly and merciless police force ensures no one escapes. Ever. All that’s keeping Parole alive is faith in the midst of horrors and death, trust in the face of desperation… and their fantastic, terrifying, and beautiful superhuman abilities.

A group of unlikely “heroes” is pulled together by their dire situations. Separately they’d never survive, much less uncover the secret of Parole’s eternally-burning fire. Together, they have a chance.

Parole’s a rough place to live. But they’re not dead yet. If they can survive the imminent cataclysmic disaster, they might just stay that way…
