We are almost done with July. Do you have a student with a great report card?  Have you brought them into our 65 James Street store for our Report Card Rewards program? You only have until July 31 to get a reward!

Here are the rewards!  (One prize per report card.)

  • If your highest grade is an “A” (or A equivalent), you’ll receive TWO free used books!
  • If your highest grade is a “B” (or a B equivalent), you’ll receive ONE free used book!
  • If you have a straight “A” report card (including A+, A-, and equivalent value), you’ll receive a $10 gift certificate to Annie’s Book Stop!
  • If you have a straight “B” report card (including B+, B-, and equivalent value), you’ll receive a $5 gift certificate to Annie’s Book Stop!

We continue to bring in more summer reading titles, so if you’ve got summer reading assignments, come in and see us. We can also special order books for you. If you know you’ll be traveling and you need a summer reading title—or a new beach read or vacation book—make use of our mail order service. Order a book and we can mail it to you. THIS MONDAY, July 23, join us for the Free People’s Artists Workshop.

Bring an art or writing project that you’re working on and share it with like-minded individuals for feedback, discussion, and support!

THIS WEDNESDAY, July 25, join us for Board Game Night!

Do you enjoy board games, but have no one at home that likes to play them? Play games and meet new people. If you are tired of your computer games or just want to try something different, board games can be very exciting and lots of fun!

Friday, July 27, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Storytime: Wild Things. Pre-registration strongly suggested; space is limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

 

And THIS SATURDAY, July 28, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, come out to celebrate Winnie-the-Pooh Day.

In advance of the world premiere of the movie CHRISTOPHER ROBIN, enter the Hundred Acre Wood with Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, Roo and Tigger, brought to life by author A. A. Milne!

Play games, put together puzzles, and test your knowledge by answering trivia questions about Winnie-the-Pooh and The House on Pooh Corner. Prizes will be awarded!

RSVPs are strongly suggested as space is limited.

Scheduled events include:

* 11:30 AM: Pin The Tail On Eeyore Game

* 12:00 PM: Read-aloud story selections

* 1:00 PM: Break

* 1:30 PM: Easy Trivia Game

* 2:00 PM: Interactive Storytelling

* 2:30 PM: Bean Bag Toss Game

There will be sales and special displays  all day, including an ongoing costume contest, 10%  off purchases for anyone in costume, a Bertie Botts Bean challenge, a Horcrux Rock search, and more. And from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, we’ve scheduled a few extra special events!

* 4:00 PM: Potion Making. Limited to 10 witches and wizards. Come and create a special brew with Professor Selina! RSVP by THURSDAY JULY 26 is required for this event.
* 4:30 PM: Harry Potter Trivia – Easy Level
* 5:00 PM: Wizard Word Mayhem Game
* 5:30 PM: Harry Potter Trivia – Hard Level
* 6:00 PM: Reading Selections from the HARRY POTTER books
* 6:30 PM: Harry Potter Trivia – Impossible Level
* 7:00 PM: Winners announced and awarded for the games and the Costume Contest!

RSVP strongly suggested for all special games to ensure sufficient supplies, but ABSOLUTELY REQURIED by THURSDAY JULY 26 for Potion Making. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Spinning Yarns Craft and Audiobook Social, every Monday 7:00 PM (except for when the Free People’s Artists Workshop meets the fourth Monday of the month). Bring a craft and enjoy an audiobook or audio drama with other crafty booklovers!

Game Night, every Wednesday (unless there is an author event) at 7:00 PM. Bring your favorite game or try a new one. Stop by the store to socialize and play!

Storytime, last Friday of each month at 11:00 AM. Come in for an hour of read aloud time for children ages 3-8. This July, our theme is Wild Things! Pre-registration strongly suggested; space is limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Next meeting July 27.

How To…, one Saturday each month at 11:00 AM. Join us for a quick talk and demo about how to do… something new! August’s topic is How To: Find Crafts to do with Kids with our own Selina Lovett. Pre-registration strongly suggested; space is limited. Events start promptly at time listed. Next meeting August 18.

The Free People’s Artists Workshop, the fourth Monday of each month from 7:00-9:00 PM. Networking and feedback from other artists and creators of all types. Co-sponsored by the Worcester County Poetry Association. Next meeting TONIGHT, July 23.

Doctor Who Discussion Nights, the third Thursday of every month from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Join us for a discussion of our favorite science fiction series. Next meeting is August 16.

The Rainbow Readers of Massachusetts is an LGBTQIA book club that will meet once a month, usually on the third Saturdays, from 6:00-8:00 PM. Next meeting August 11.
