We also still have plenty of literature for any last-minute back-to-school reading needs. We can even send books directly to you through our mail order program.

We had an absolutely amazing week last week!  Thank you to everyone who we got to spend time with or meet for the first time. Whether it was our Board Game Night or our Friday evening with SF Author Gene Doucette and his novel The Spaceship Next Door, or ifyou saw us on Saturday either at our booth for Worcester Pride or for our How To: Garden with Integrated Crop Management.

Have you enjoyed our events or the time you’ve spent in our little store? Consider leaving us a review on TripAdvisor or leaving us a review on Yelp. You can also review us on Facebook!

And we’ve got a LOT happening this week, too!

THIS WEDNESDAY, September 12, at 7:00 PM, join us for our weekly Board Game Night!

And THIS FRIDAY, September 14, from 6:00-8:00 PM, we’re happy to host YA SF Author Greg Katsoulis and Access Restricted.

Last year, Gregory Katsoulis introduced a world where every word and gesture is copyrighted, patented or trademarked. In All Rights Reserved we were riveted to see what happened when one girl—Speth Jime—elected to remain silent, rather than pay to speak, and how her defiant and unexpected silence threatened to unravel the very fabric of society. In Access Restricted, Speth and her friends have freed the city of Vermaine from Silas Rog and his oppressive litigation. But now, with the Wi-Fi untethered, the citizens of her city are looking to Speth to lead them. Just as Speth never intended to lead a rebellion of Silents, she has no idea how to begin putting Vermaine back to rights. All she wants to do is break out of the dome and track down her parents, who were sold into indentured servitude years before. Leaving the care of the city in the hands of her friend and mentor, Kel, Speth and a few friends embark on a journey to explore the rest of their world and spread the cause of freedom.

Gregory Scott Katsoulis is a writer, teacher, artist, and goofball. He is in love with ideas and possibility. When he is not writing, Katsoulis composes incidental music and enjoys taking photographs of faces, debunking bunk, and confounding children by teaching them about black holes, time travel paradoxes, and the hilarious fallibility of human memory. He lives in the lovely and stimulating Cambridge, Massachusetts. You can visit his website at http://www.gregorykatsoulis.com for occasional thought updates.

THIS SATURDAY, September 15, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, stop into the store as Rainbow Readers Discusses River of Teeth by Sarah Gailey.

In the early 20th Century, the United States government concocted a plan to import hippopotamuses into the marshlands of Louisiana to be bred and slaughtered as an alternative meat source. This is true.

Other true things about hippos: they are savage, they are fast, and their jaws can snap a man in two.

This was a terrible plan.

Contained within this volume is an 1890s America that might have been: a bayou overrun by feral hippos and mercenary hippo wranglers from around the globe. It is the story of Winslow Houndstooth and his crew. It is the story of their fortunes. It is the story of his revenge.

Copies of the book are available at the store now!

And finally, THIS SUNDAY, September 16, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, join us for a Drop-in Craft: Foxes!

Annie’s Book Stop of Worcester invites you to Crafty Foxes, a drop-in craft and activity day! From 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, on Sunday, September 16, we’ll be offering fox-themed crafts and coloring pages for children of all ages and parents. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.
