12152012-mastersfobwatchWe’re almost halfway through the month of November, and we’re really getting into a fabulous line-up of events for this month—and we’re giving you a peek at what’s to come this December, too!

As a reminder,starting on Sunday, November 20, we will have extended Holiday Hours:

Sunday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Friday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

 

As part of our November fun, we’re having a great time with our National Novel Writing Month Come Write In Events. We offer a quiet space to write, along with snacks at our store every Thursday (except Thanksgiving, as we’ll be closed) from 12:00 – 5:00 PM. We have also added another Write-In on Sunday, November 20, from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

THIS WEEK, we are hosting two grand Doctor Who Events!

THIS THURSDAY, November 17, 7:00 – 8:00 PM join us for Doctor Who Discussion Night. We’ll be discussing historical figures our favorite Doctor encounters.

And then THIS SATURDAY, November 19, we have an ALL DAY SPECIAL EVENT! We’re hosting our Annual Doctor Who Anniversary Celebration!

Take advantage of one-day-only in-store special sales including 10% off on Doctor Who audio dramas, 20% off on all magazines, and 70% off on selected Blake’s 7 audio titles from B7 Media.

ABSW will be running two trivia contests. The first will start at 3:00 PM and will concentrate on “New Who” television episodes broadcast between 1996 and the present. The second will start at 6:00 PM and will be more challenging, focusing on “Classic Who” episodes which aired between 1963 and 1989.

There will also be a costume contest at 5:00 PM. Costumes are encouraged throughout the day.

Sign up for these contests may be done in person at this store or by e-mail at anniesbookstopworcester@gmail.com and is subject to space availability.

Prizes for the contests will be awarded throughout the day. Our judgement is final. Persons attending are eligible for only one contest prize in the calendar year. No substitution of prizes permitted.

 

 

Unfortunately, we have had to postpone Put Some Scares into…: Horror Authors Pete Kahle and Tom Deady. The NEW DATE AND TIME for this event is Saturday, December 17, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.

NEW LISTING: Friday, November 25, 7:00 – 8:30 – Worcester Storytellers Features Nicole Waybright. Join us for our regular open mic followed by featured reader! Nicole recently finished her narrative nonfiction work in which she tells the true story of her coming-of-age struggles while deployed as an officer on a U.S. Navy destroyer.

SPECIAL EVENT: Saturday, November 26, ALL DAY – Small Business Saturday with Worcester Writers Collaborative ABSW teams up woth local author group, Worcester Writers Collaborative, to bring you a day full of readings, signings, and talks with local authors from all genres. Support your local businesses; support your local autors!

Spinning Yarns Craft and Audiobook Social, every Monday 7:00 PM (except for when the Free People’s Artists Workshop meets the fourth Monday of the month). Bring a craft and enjoy an audiobook or audio drama with other crafty booklovers!

Worcester Storytellers, the fourth Friday of every month from 7-8:30 PM. The November 25 event features Nicole Waybright, a narrative non-fiction author. For the complete updates and schedules, follow Worcester Storytellers on Facebook!

The Free People’s Artists Workshop, the fourth Monday of each month from 7:00-9:00 PM. Networking and feedback from other artists and creators of all types. Co-sponsored by the Worcester County Poetry Association. Next meeting is Monday, November 28.

Doctor Who Talks, the third Thursday of every month from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Join us for a discussion of our favorite science fiction serial. Every month will have a different topic! Next meeting, November 17.

Rainbow Readers Youth of Massachusetts is an LGBTQIA book club specific to teens. On hiatus for December with more details to be announced. Further information on the Rainbow Readers Youth page.

The Rainbow Readers of Massachusetts is an LGBTQIA book club that will meet once a month on third Saturdays from 6:00-8:00 PM. Next meeting December 10.
